Read-a-thon Day 2

Bout of Books

I’ve finished the first day of the Bout of Books read-a-thon!

Currently reading: Paraphernalia: The Curious Lives of Magical Things by Steven Connor
Pages read: 97

My goals have become slightly more specific in my mind (though I’m not bothering to edit my goals post).  I’m seeing lots of people do nothing but reading but imagine the state of their houses when it’s over! That’s too much cleaning for me! So my goal has become: read 3 books, without skipping housework or my daily blogilates workout. I’m aiming for at least 100 pages per day.

Because of that, I’m a little behind schedule. I read one less chapter than I wanted to yesterday, but I just couldn’t stay awake any longer.  I’ll try to catch up today.

Leave me links to your daily updates. I’d love to see what you’re reading!

That is a good goal – I’m happy if I can get 100 pages a day done. My first book was super short and a good way for me to start out and get motivated. Hoping to finish another book by end of the week. 🙂

  2. My house looks the same after 9 hours of reading, plus other hours of blog hopping. 🙂 I need to do dishes, but it’s just the two of us and they are soaking so I never do them daily. When it’s just me and him, and he’s gone all day at work, it doesn’t really get messy in here. All I really need to worry about this week is reading and taking care of the dog. I realize I’m blessed that way and am grateful to my hubby for taking care of me. 🙂

    • You’re very lucky. Most of the housework I’m doing could actually have been done the weekend before, I’m just not organised enough :). But I do have to look after chickens, ducks and a pony. It’s like a farmyard! Although at the same time, short breaks to go off and do chores is a good way to refresh the mind for the next session of reading. I think it might be helping me get more reading done.

      • That is quite a little farm. 🙂 Most people do have responsibilities and such, I know I’m quite lucky, my hubby takes great care of me, and lets me talk his ear off about books when he gets in. I do hope that you do get more reading done with the refresher breaks!

Actually, reading a book (about 300-400 words) is easier if you have no disturbance, maybe you could try getting a hot cup of tea and chilling out in the garden or in your living room with a book thats interesting for a least a hour? I can guarantee that you can finish at least 150 by the end of the hour or even the whole book if you’re are faster-than-average reader like me…
